What do the pros like the most about Buffet clarinets? What's the biggest attraction? It's the sound. The sound of Buffet clarinets is very beautiful, pure and resonant. That's the main reason professionals choose this clarinet.

Another reason is the quality of the clarinets themselves. Music is a beautiful thing. Beautiful music depends a lot on the quality of the musical instrument used. One of the main factors that affect the quality of the musical instrument is the quality of the instrument itself. What is the instrument made up of? Is it made of fine, high quality materials?

The company that manufactures Buffet clarinets is, as you may guess, is called Buffet. They have been manufacturing clarinets for close to 200 years. That's a long time to learn the art & science of making high quality clarinets.

It all began in 1825 in Paris, France. The founder, Denis Buffet - Auger began manufacturing clarinets that musicians loved. Their beautiful craftsmanship slowly became well-known in the musical world. Of course, their clarinets were manufactured by hand. In 1830, Jean Louis Buffet, their son, and Zoe Crampon, his wife, became in charge of the company. Under their leadership, the company's clarinets improved even more and their reputation spread.

The uncle of Jean Louis, called Louis Auguste Buffet, starting working together with Klose, who was a virtuoso at the Conservatory of Paris. Together, this musician - craftsman team improved the Buffet clarinet's design even more. They added rings that moved, which was previously only used in the manufacture of flutes. In 1850, the factory had to move to Mantes - la - Ville, because of increased demand.

Buffet clarinets was introduced to the United States market in 1918. Their reputation paved the way and they were well received.

Buffet also manufactures clarinets with a wood found in Tanzania and Mozambique; it is called Grenadilla wood. This wood is famous for its beautiful resonance. These clarinets are available with thumbrests that are adjustable, and keywork that are silver plated. They also come with accessories that are standard like a mouthpiece, ligature, cleaning swab, and a case.

There are other Buffet models, as well; the Green Line being one of them. This line of clarinets is made from carbon fiber mixed with ebony powder.  Other popular models include the Buffet R13 Clarinet, Buffett E11 Clarinet or Buffet Clarinet E11, and the Buffet Crampon Clarinet.
